Want to KnowHow2Go?

Hey, Freshmen and Sophomores:

Do you think that college and career planning don’t apply to you? Think again! This is the time of your life to begin the college research process, and EducationQuest Foundation is sponsoring the KnowHow2Go campaign in Nebraska to help students and parents make going to college become a reality. Here’s what you need to do:
Step 1: Be a pain–in a good way. Let everyone you know that you want to go to college, and find someone who will help you.

Step 2: Push Yourself. Don’t take the easy road in high school–challenge yourself by taking advanced courses that will prepare you for college. Classes to focus on are math and science, world language, and other advanced courses. If you are unsure of your career path, don’t be afraid to try classes such as art, music, or technology that can help you find areas of study you enjoy.

Step 3: Find the right fit. There are so many colleges and trade schools–how do you know which one is right? Knowing a career field that you want to study will help you identify colleges that will offer your degree program, then you can begin researching colleges that will fit you best.

Step 4: Put your hands on some cash. Start learning about financial aid and scholarships that are offered locally and through the colleges you are interested in. Learning the basics now will help you your junior and senior years when you have to know a lot more about financial aid.

To learn more about these four steps, visit the guidance office and ask about EducationQuest publications, or visit the website educationquest.org.

Hello, World!

Welcome back! I am excited to get to work with you to begin exploring your future. College and career choices may seem a long time away, but they will be here sooner than you think. However, you don’t have to make these choices alone, there are many adults who can help you make those decisions including parents, teachers, coaches, and, don’t forget, your guidance counselor! I will be working with each class to provide useful information and resources about college and career choices, but if you have more questions, or just want some extra help, stop by anytime or make an appointment. Have a great year!
